On February 26, 2026, Mr. Hermann Yirigouin TOE, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, visited the Institute of Tropical Medicine (NEKKEN), Nagasaki University.

He was welcomed by Prof. Kaneko Osamu, Director of NEKKEN, and Prof. Kaneko Satoshi, Director of the Africa Base for Education and Research. Discussions covered an overview of NEKKEN’s research activities and Nagasaki University’s engagement with African countries, followed by a tour of the institute’s research facilities.

The visit concluded with an informal meeting with African students currently enrolled at Nagasaki University, providing a valuable opportunity to share their experiences of research and student life in Japan.
