Nagasaki University and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Establish Partnership
On Thursday, December 11, 2025, Nagasaki University signed a partnership agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to provide scholarship support for students from developing member countries.
Through this partnership, international students enrolled in the Graduate School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health will be eligible to receive scholarships under the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP). This initiative is expected to further promote the development of highly skilled professionals who will contribute to sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Zhukov, Director General of ADB’s Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department, delivered remarks on the importance of human resource development through this program and expressed his expectations for collaboration with Nagasaki University.
President Takeshi Nagayasu conveyed his gratitude for selecting Nagasaki University as a designated institution and shared his aspirations that participation in this program will further enhance student diversity and advance research activities at the Graduate School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health. He also expressed his commitment to working together with ADB toward realizing a healthier, more inclusive, and peaceful world.
Starting from next year’s admission for the Master’s Program, the Graduate School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health will utilize the ADB-JSP scholarship scheme to recruit highly motivated and talented international students from a wide range of regions, including Southeast Asia, as well as the Caucasus, Central Asia, South Asia, and Pacific Island countries.
On the same day, a welcome gathering for scholarship students was hosted by ADB, attended by the ADB-JSP Director General, officials from the Japanese Ministry of Finance who provide funding for the scholarship, as well as representatives from 17 designated educational institutions across Japan.
