For many years, both universities have maintained a strong relationship through student exchange programs. With Professor Cho Won-ho (Neurosurgery) newly appointed as Dean at Busan National University, this visit was seen as an opportunity to develop exchanges further, strengthen student and research collaboration, organize joint academic conferences, and promote alumni interactions.

1. Exchange of Young Researchers

As part of the Korean government’s regional medical education support policy, the RISE Project (Regional Innovation of System and Education) aims to foster medical professionals and global leaders. Busan National University plans to advance a “Global Leader Development Program” in collaboration with Nagasaki University. Future expectations include graduate student research exchanges supported by this system.

2. Exchange of Undergraduate Students

Starting in 2026, based on the current student exchange agreement, both universities will send up to three students annually for clinical training exchanges.

3. Joint Academic Conferences

To promote friendly relations, both universities agreed to hold joint academic conferences such as collaborative symposia annually. The first event is scheduled for early 2026 in Busan.

4. Alumni Association Exchange

In conjunction with the planned joint symposium between the two faculties, efforts are underway to explore the possibility of organizing an alumni exchange meeting.
