Fostering Coexistence: Catch Data Analysis Workshop for Marine Renewable Energy
To promote the utilization of marine renewable energy, coordination and coexistence with existing marine activities are essential. Crucially, achieving this harmony requires an accurate and detailed understanding of the current state of fisheries, which represent a key marine activity.
To address this need and cultivate the next generation of researchers and engineers for the marine industry, the Organization for Marine Science and Technology (OMST) successfully hosted the “Catch Data Analysis Workshop” on November 17-18, 2025, at Hakuyokan, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology.
The workshop featured instructors: Professor Yoshiki Matsushita from OMST and Dr. Antonello Sala from the Italian National Research Council (CNR).
Participants utilized personal computers to gain hands-on experience in learning advanced methods for analyzing actual catch data obtained from diverse fisheries. This practical approach significantly advances the development of researchers and engineers who are poised to contribute to the sustainable development of the marine industry in the coming years.
