On November 5, 2025, Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and the School of Medicine signed an academic exchange agreement with the Sichuan Friendship International Exchange Center, a non-profit organization authorized by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs. The Center promotes international academic exchange in the fields of medicine and healthcare and has extensive experience in implementing medical exchange programs with universities and healthcare institutions in Europe.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Wang Qiang, Director of the Sichuan Friendship International Exchange Center; Dr. Liu Jun from the Department of Oncology at Zigong City First People’s Hospital; Professor Kawakami, Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences; and Professor Ikematsu, Dean of the School of Medicine. Following the signing, both parties engaged in discussions on future collaboration.

Under this agreement, Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and the School of Medicine, and the Center plan to promote researcher exchanges and invite participants to international conferences. As part of this initiative, from today Dr. Liu will undertake a three-month training program in the Department of Radiation Oncology under Professor Toya’s supervision. On the first day of training, Associate Professor Nakamura provided an orientation and guided Dr. Liu through the medical office and clinical facilities. The program will also involve collaboration with other clinical departments, including Professor Ashizawa’s laboratory in Clinical Oncology.

Through this agreement, Nagasaki University aims to contribute to the advancement of global medical research and foster international talent development.
