The Graduate School of Integrated Science and Technology and the Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences conducted marine training aboard the training vessel Nagasaki Maru (1,131 tons) and visited Pukyong National University (PKNU) in Busan, South Korea, a partner institution. At PKNU an academic conference was held with academic staff and students in PKNU. This program, known as the Special Shipboard Training for the Graduate School of Integrated Science and Technology and the Off-Campus Training for the Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences, targets doctoral and master’s students. It was jointly conducted again this year, following last year’s implementation.
Departing from Nagasaki Port on October 17, 2025, the ship conducted lectures, trawl net sampling, and ship handling training before arriving at Busan Port on the 19th. In Busan City, on the 20th, the group visited PKNU and held an academic conference in English together with PKNU graduate students. On the 21st, they visited the fish market. Nagasaki Maru departed Busan Port on the 22nd, continuing the training, and returned to Nagasaki Port on the 23rd. Participating graduate students cultivated their English presentation and communication skills while thoroughly enjoying shipboard life.
