Ms. Chiyo Takahashi, a first-year doctoral student at the Graduate School of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences, received the Student Excellence Award at the 2021 Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Fisheries Engineering (held online June 12-13). The award is given to students who make excellent presentations at the conference.

Ms. Takahashi presented her research, “Fish fauna and their occurrence characteristics observed in the fish aggregation devices set along the coast of Goto Islands”. This research clarified how fish use the fish aggregation devices installed in the Goto Islands, and provided new knowledge about the creation and use of artificial habitats. The research content, presentation skills, and the question-and-answer session after the presentation were comprehensively evaluated, leading to the award.
