Delegations from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and Taipei Medical University School of Pharmacy Visit Nagasaki University
On March 16, 2026, delegations from the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Taipei Medical University (TMU) visited Nagasaki University to pay a courtesy call on Executive Director Yasutake (Student and International Affairs) in conjunction with their participation in the Advanced Research Symposium in Pharmaceutical Sciences held at our university.
During the visit, Dean Chi-Ying Huang of NYCU’s College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Professor Chia-Li Han of TMU’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences delivered presentations introducing their respective colleges and discussing possibilities for future collaborative research. From Nagasaki University, Dean Nishida of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Toriba (International Exchange), and Associate Professor Abiko were in attendance. In addition, Professor Jih-Jung Chen from the NYCU School of Pharmacy, as well as Assistant Professors Pei-Shan Sung and Harry Weijie Pan from the TMU School of Pharmacy, were also in attendance. All parties confirmed their intention to further strengthen academic and research collaboration.
Nagasaki University concluded academic exchange agreements with NYCU in 2002 and with TMU in 2018, fostering research and student exchange primarily in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. This visit was made possible through the “FY2025 International Student Exchange Support Program,” for which the Pharmaceutical Sciences applied with the aim of enhancing international collaboration with both Taiwanese universities. As a result of the program’s selection, faculty members from both partner universities were invited to participate in a symposium held at Nagasaki University from March 16 to 18.
Additionally, Nagasaki University and the two Taiwanese universities, together with Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, and Kyushu University, co-host an annual Joint Symposium among six schools of pharmacy, which marks its 10th edition this year. Furthermore, in December 2025, TMU students and faculty members were invited to Nagasaki University through the Sakura Science Program. The program included facility tours, lectures on advanced drug discovery, laboratory experiences, student exchange activities, visits to pharmaceutical companies, and a final presentation and student discussion session.
Looking ahead, the President of Taipei Medical University is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to President Nagayasu of Nagasaki University on April 24.
