Our university has concluded an academic exchange agreement with the Medical University of Graz in Austria. Starting in January 2026, a third-year medical student will participate in a two-month short-term research seminar at the university. In advance of this program, Professor Fukuoka from the Department of Pathology visited the Medical University of Graz on January 8,9 and 12, 2026, to express gratitude for their support and paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Rector of the Medical Faculty.

During the visit, Professor Fukuoka met with Prof. Siegurd Lax (Department Chair) and Prof. Luka Brcic from Graz II Hospital and the Institute of Clinical Pathology at the Medical University of Vienna, Prof. Dagmar Kratky from the Division of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, and Prof. Akos Heinemann, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs. They discussed future opportunities for international collaboration and exchanged views on Erasmus+ KA171 (International Credit Mobility), a European Union program that supports student and staff exchanges.

Furthermore, Professor Fukuoka met with Prof. Bernadette Liegl-Atzwanger, department chair and an expert in Translational Sarcoma Pathology, to explore possibilities for future research collaboration.

As this marks the first time since the signing of the international exchange agreement in January 2025 that our university will send a student for short-term study, Professor Fukuoka also visited the host laboratory to review the research environment, meet the staff, and tour the facilities.

We look forward to further strengthening student and research exchanges with the Medical University of Graz and promoting the development of our international academic network.
