Nagasaki University and the National Institute of Fisheries Science Held a Signing Ceremony
On November 20, 2025, Nagasaki University held a signing ceremony for an academic exchange agreement with the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) of the Republic of Korea.
The ceremony was attended by Director General Mr. LEE Jeongyun, of the Department of Aquaculture Research at NIFS, who participated on behalf of President CHOI Yongseok of the National Institute of Fisheries Science, and President NAGAYASU Takeshi, of Nagasaki University, who signed the agreement. Also present were Trustee YASUTAKE Atsuko (Student Affairs and International Affairs), Professor KAWAMOTO Kazuaki, Dean of the Graduate School of Integrated Science and Technology, and other related staff members.
This agreement aims to further strengthen the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions in the fields of fisheries and marine science. Planned initiatives include joint research projects, academic lectures, and symposia to promote active research exchange.
As neighbors sharing the East China Sea, both countries face common challenges such as the sustainable use of marine resources, conservation of the marine environment, and responses to climate change. International cooperation is essential to address these issues, and this agreement marks an important step toward building a mutually complementary partnership.
Following the signing ceremony, participants engaged in discussions on future collaboration, including fostering young researchers and implementing joint research projects.
