On October 3, 2025, His Excellency Mr. Gilberto Jerónimo, Ambassador of Portugal to Japan, visited Nagasaki University and held a meeting with President Takeshi Nagayasu.

The purpose of the visit included serving as a guest lecturer in the Embassy Lecture Series organized by Professor Nishida of the School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences.

This lecture series invites active diplomats and staff from foreign embassies in Japan to speak, aiming to cultivate international awareness and global perspectives among students who will play active roles in an increasingly globalized society.

On the same day, Ambassador Jerónimo delivered a lecture to students, sharing insights on global affairs, the realities of diplomatic work, and his own experiences. It was a valuable opportunity for students to learn directly from a frontline diplomat.

During the meeting, President Nagayasu expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador’s participation in the lecture and conveyed his hopes that this visit would serve as a catalyst for strengthening academic and cultural ties between Nagasaki University and institutions in Portugal.
