LONDON, July 2–3, 2025 — A high-level delegation from Nagasaki University (NU), led by President Prof. Takeshi Nagayasu, visited the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) last week to deepen ties in climate change, planetary health, and infectious disease collaboration.

On July 2, NU met with LSHTM’s Centre on Climate Change and Planetary Health to explore future joint efforts in research, education, and global south engagement. The visit included a lab tour and a networking reception at LSHTM’s garden party.

On July 3, the two institutions co-hosted the event “Celebrating Impact and Shaping the Future: The NU–LSHTM Partnership”, attended by over 70 participants both on-site and online. NU President Nagayasu introduced the university’s new J-PEAKS initiative and the Center for Global Risks, underscoring NU’s global commitment to transdisciplinary collaboration. Senior faculty from both sides reflected on the partnership’s evolution, while Joint-PhD students presented research in planetary health. Delegates from the JSPS London Office, including new director Prof. Masahiko Hara, also took part in the event.
