On June 5, 2025, President Ngy Laymithuna in Cambodia, and Vice President Ky Visal of Kratie University visited Nagasaki University and met with President Takeshi Nagayasu and other faculty. Kratie University and Nagasaki University signed an academic exchange agreement in 2019 and have since continued to foster mutual collaboration.

Joining the meeting from Nagasaki University were Professor Wada Minoru, Professor Arakawa Osamu, and Professor Takatani Tomohiro from the Graduate School of Integrated Science and Technology.

President Ngy Laymithuna is an alumnus of Nagasaki University’s Graduate School of Integrated Science and Technology (Department of Fisheries) and received his Ph.D. in 2008. His doctoral coursework consisted mainly of research conducted on the poison of the toxicity of freshwater.

The purpose of this visit was to exchange views on sustaining and further developing joint research and academic exchange between the two institutions. President Ngy Laymithuna expressed his high expectations for future collaboration with Nagasaki University.

Following the courtesy call, President Ngy Laymithuna met with Assistant Professor Yesbol Sartayev of the Research Center for Global Risk, who currently oversees the Nagasaki University Foreign Students Association (NUFSA), where President Ngy Laymithuna served as president during his time as a student. As an alumnus of Nagasaki University, President Ngy Laymithuna was also apprised of the Nagasaki University Global Alumni Network (NUGAN) by staff members from the Office for Global Relations, further deepening his understanding of the university’s international initiatives for students.
