South African Embassy Minister-Counsellor for Science, Innovation and Education, Mr. Ghaleeb Jeppie, Visited Nagasaki University
On May 22, 2025, Mr. Ghaleeb Jeppie, Minister-Counsellor for Science, Innovation and Education at the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Japan, visited Nagasaki University and met with Dr. Trustee Ito (in charge of Student and International Affairs) and Vice President Yujing Jiang (in charge of International Exchange).
During the meeting, Dr. Trustee Ito introduced the University’s distinctive educational programs and history, and both parties exchanged views on strengthening future collaboration between Japan and South Africa. Nagasaki University has a track record of organizing joint symposia and collaborative research with South African research institutes.
Minister-Counsellor Jeppie expressed his hopes for further revitalization of research cooperation and student exchange between universities and research institutions in South Africa.
Following the meeting, Minister-Counsellor Jeppie toured campus facilities, including the Tropical Medicine Museum, deepening his understanding of Nagasaki University.
